Frenelle Pharma to Present ARVO 2026 Data on High-Concentration Suprachoroidal Delivery with Faros™ Microspheres
PLYMOUTH, Minn. — April 30, 2026 — Frenelle Pharma will present new data at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) 2026 Annual Meeting, May 3-7 in Denver, demonstrating that its proprietary Faros™ microspheres can be injected at ultra-high concentrations through the fine-gauge needles used for suprachoroidal delivery—a combination that has limited prior approaches to back-of-the-eye therapy. The findings open new development and partnering opportunities for long-acting ophthalmic therapeutics.
Faros™ microspheres have a tightly controlled small particle size (d50 2.5 microns) and remain non-aggregating when reconstituted in normal saline, forming a low-viscosity suspension that can be pushed at high concentrations through the fine-gauge needles used for suprachoroidal delivery in benchtop testing. These benchtop performance data highlight the potential of Faros™ as a versatile platform for long-acting therapies that may be delivered via the suprachoroidal route.

“These data suggest that Faros™ microspheres could expand what’s possible for long-acting ophthalmic formulations by enabling high-concentration suspensions to pass through the fine-gauge needles used for suprachoroidal injection,” said Jeff Missling, CEO of Frenelle Pharma. “We’re excited to share these findings with the ophthalmology community and to explore partnerships with organizations advancing back-of-the-eye therapy.”
Suprachoroidal injection is an emerging approach for delivering therapies to the back of the eye, where precision and compatibility are especially important. The company said the latest findings support continued exploration of Faros™ for applications that require reliable performance in this delivery setting.
About Frenelle Pharma
Frenelle Pharma systematically advances Faros™-enabled therapeutics from discovery through
commercialization via its hub-and-spoke model. With micro-sized, spherical, non-porous particles that deliver consistent drug release, Faros™ particles enable injections through very small-gauge needles, minimizing injection-site pain and enhancing the safety of soft-tissue injections. Their aerodynamic properties make them compatible with inhalation as well. Frenelle Pharma has three subsidiaries at this time: SpineThera (sciatica), Frenelle PBC (addiction medicine), and Anumio (animal health). Headquartered in Minnesota's Medical Alley, the company is committed to continually improving patient and pet experiences through superior drug delivery. Learn more at frenellepharma.com.
